Brandon is survived by his sons Colby, Chance, Caydon and Cayson; daughter-in-law Angelina; grandson Rowen; life partner Jodi Collier; Jodi’s daughter Anaya; parents Jim and Lana Smith; sister Holly (Doug) Schreck; nephews Luke (Mackenzie) Hartnett and Cole Hartnett; the mother of his children, Amanda; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves behind his beloved best friend and companion, Rowdy.

He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Mildred Smith and Betty Lou McDanolds; grandfathers John McDanolds and Merle Smith; uncle Jay Smith; and cousins John Lofgren and Heather Wright.

Brandon was known for his infectious laughter, quick wit and welcoming personality. He had a natural ability to make strangers feel like friends and was remembered for his generosity, loyalty and forgiving nature. Whether working on the farm or spending time with his loved ones, he brought an unmistakable sense of humor and warmth to everyday life.

Brandon Smith Obituary and Funeral Information

A celebration of Brandon Smith’s life was scheduled for Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia, Iowa.

A private family burial was planned at Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brandon Smith’s family in care of Holly Schreck.
